The Iowa State Fair has announced several Grandstand shows over the last couple months, and if you like country or 80′s rock…you are probably thrilled with the lineup. I’m not a big fan of either, so I was anxiously waiting to see what shows would be on the free stages this year. Of course, its more of the same with plenty of country, but there are quite a few other shows that are definitely worth checking out. Along with local favorites like The Nadas, and Brother Trucker here are a few that I’m looking forward to:
JJ Grey & Mofro – 8/9 Riley Stage
Blackberry Smoke – 8/12 Susan Knapp Amphitheater
War – 8/19 Bud Stage
Some other notable shows on the free stages include Boyz II Men, Strawberry Fields (Beatles Tribute Band) and Dave Mason Duo. Check out the full list of shows at http://www.iowastatefair.org/on-stage/free-entertainment/

It’s sickening to this huge WAR fan, that WAR fans and promoters are constantly being decieved by the WAR name, and they keep following and booking this fake “WAR” band that will be performing at the fair, while the ORIGINAL artists of the LOWRIDER BAND aka WAR have been forgotten. Four singer/songwriters/musicians of the LOWRIDER BAND, Harold Brown, Howard Scott, BB Dickerson, Lee Oskar, are not “former” members of WAR. They ARE WAR and will always be WAR to true WAR fans who know that THEIR WAR name was stolen from them by a greedy producer. The most original WAR band depicted in the ‘Cisco Kid’ video above are now called the LOWRIDER BAND, the REAL WAR band.
The band you are promoting as “War” is NOT the REAL War. Even the video you posted as War is the Lowrider Band who were stripped of their hard-earned War name. No wonder “War” (lol) is playing for free. First they steal the name, then they drag it through the mud as the inferior band they are. Sorry I can’t attend your music festival but I know now not to waste my money on the fake War. I’m happy to see that the “real War” is still touring as the Lowrider Band. You wanna hear the real War, next time book the Lowrider Band. What a shame…
