One of my favorite ways to enjoy live music is outside. Obviously I am not the only one based upon the crowds that come out to Simon Estes for various shows throughout the summer. Outdoor shows have started in Ankeny now as well. Last summer, I made the hike up north a bit to check out Ankeny Unplugged. I was a little unsure what to expect since Ankeny tends to be mostly suburban families, but I was really impressed with how well run and fun this series was.
The crew is back for another year of live music from some of Iowa’s best bands, great food, booze and merch. Through the month of June, every Saturday night, Ankeny Unplugged will feature hot live music in a cool atmosphere. And although kids are welcome, it’s a great event for a night out with friends. The best part, it is so freaking cheap! You can get an early bird pass now through Tikly for only $10 for the whole series or you can pay at the gate day of for only $3. Click here for all of the deets.
So who is actually playing this year? Check out this sick lineup:
Patrick Tape Fleming (of Poison Control Center)
Don’t be a doofus and miss out on this awesome series and support our Iowa musicians. And there is a good chance you will see me doing some hippie dancing in front of the stage. I welcome all to come have a dance party and cold beers with me.
Peace~
