Hey homies! I have been off of the radar for a bit, but thanks to Tyler for holding down the fort while I worked mega hours at my full time job. The weather lately has been unbelievable. It has felt like summer the past few weeks which is making me really excited for summer to actually get here.
Music festivals are one of my favorite things to attend, and to me, are the epitome of summer. Earlier this week the initial lineup for 80/35 was released which caused quite a buzz. Obviously we love 80/35 for so many reasons, but I also need to get my fix of non urban festivals. There is something so amazing about the camping festival atmosphere. Getting to know your neighbors, late night drum circles, festival food, Shakedown Street… I need all of this in my life at least once a year. I did a few years of Bonnaroo and was very tempted to go back this year, but it is such a long trip. However, I discovered Summer Camp Music Festival a few years ago and have decided that this is my year to try this one out. The lineup looks amazing and it is only about a 3.5 hour drive from the DSM.
My goal over the next few weeks is to rally some troops to get a Des Moines crew to caravan with me. Obviously anyone that reads this blog would be an ideal candidate for the party. So check out the lineup, call your peeps and let’s make this happen! When you consider how many freaking awesome bands you will be seeing, the cost is not bad at all. Plus, the more people we get to go together, the more we can coordinate supplies. Trust me, I have done the festival circuit before and a larger crew is the way to go.
Here are a few pics of my past festival experiences to entice you. Trust me, there are few better experiences than a summer camping music festival.
