If you live in Des Moines, there is a good chance that you know who Tony Bohnenkamp is. Tony has been on the local music scene for so long and worked with so many local musicians that his name has become synonymous with the Des Moines local music scene. From drumming for The Nadas to the Piano Man dueling squad, Pianopalooza, Tony is no stranger to live performances. He is also no stranger to recording original music… other bands’ music though. Tony B. is one of the faces behind recording studio, The Sonic Factory, where many of our local favorites have laid down albums. Many in the music scene know that he has his own music that he has been working on, but until now, he has not actually recording his own album.
Some of us got a good taste of Tony’s original songs when he opened up for Bright Giant last year at now defunct 504 Club. Many were hoping that he would finally create that album that he has been working on for well over 10 years, and the time has finally come. Tony has finished his album and is ready to release it to the masses. Come out to People’s Court on Saturday night for the CD Release Party. I have a very special place in my heart for Tony. When I first started talking about the idea of DSMVibe, Tony was the first one on board with what I wanted to do. He has helped this site grow so much. Believe it or not, his hand is actually the hand that VIBE is written on at the top of our site. (Mine is the D.) So come show our man some support. Let’s make him realize how excited we all are for his new adventure.
Side 2 CD Release Show
People’s on Court, March 24, 2012
$10 to get in or $22 for a ticket and a CD
Feel like you want a little bit more? $35 gets you a ticket, autographed CD and a t-shirt. I’m sure you could probably add a hug from Tony B. to that as well.
