Oh my gosh, I just heard about the coolest event. Ankeny Unplugged this week combines three of my favorite things: bikes, booze and some killer local bands. Saturday night is BIKEIOWA night. It would be cool enough if just a bunch of homies rode their bikes to Wagner Park, but the whole show is actually going to be powered by bicycles! Seriously! A bicycle-powered generator is on loan from the Iowa Heritage Foundation and Urban Ambassadors to run the show. And you can even take a turn at running the generator. I can’t get over how cool this is.
To make things even better, some of my favorite local bands are playing. Throw back a few cold ones and jam out to the tunes courtesy of The River Monks, Seedlings and Wolfgang. I got to loving these guys after the super chill Urbandale City Limits event. No doubt, this night will be #wickedrad.
